  • Stanly County was formed in 1841 and names for John Stanly of New Bern. Albemarle is the county seat.
  • Stanly Cty total area of 405 square miles, 395 square miles of land and 9.8 square miles of water (2.4%)
  • Badin Lake Bomber: B-25 WWII Bomber piloted by Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Charles McDaniel crashed into Badin Lake on June 8th, 1944. The plane & its pilots remain at the bottom on Badin Lake
  • Badin Rd. Drive-In theater, originally built in 1948, is one of eight remaining in operation in NC today.
  • Check out our newest brewery, Uwharrie Brewing. They host weekly events: walk/run club every Thursday, Open Mic Night on Wednesday, Trivia Night on Monday and so much more. They host local food trucks throughout the week. Check them out on Facebook @ Uwharrie Brewing.

Join us the last Saturday of every month for Social Saturday for participating establishments are open from 10am – 10pm.
  • Stanly County Farmer’s Market in open every Saturday from 8am – noon at Market Station.
  • Food Truck Friday at City Lake Park. Grab some friends and chairs and head over to City Lake Park from 5:30-9pm for dinner and music at the pavilion.
  • Our NEW local Wood bat collegiate team, The Uwharrie Wampus cats wrapped of their first season on Friday July 28 with a record of 17-17. Thanks for a great first season!
